Celebration, birthday style

It’s day 5 of summer camp and today we are talking about birthday celebrations around the campfire.

My rules about birthday celebrations are simple: they last for a week, include lots of family time and something fun to do.

Since my birthday lands on or near the holiday weekend that signals warm weather ahead – it’s usually pretty easy to come up with something fun to do!

I don’t have a “preference” on how I spend the day – just that I am with the people I love.

And since I share a birthday – she always has to be there too.

• Have been a total bloggy-slacker lately. I hope to catch up before I leave next week, and post some fun stuff for your entertainment while I am gone.

• It’s my birthday! It’s been a great day so far and the weekend is shaping up to be pretty nice as well. Plus? 3 sleeps until we are at Cinda-ella’s castle!! EEPP!!
• My husband is awesome and got me the super cute camera bag I have been coveting for..ever…
• Of course, it will arrive on Tuesday – but still! YAY!
• And I rented a lens to take on vacation  - it is just as awesome as I imagined. I don’t think I will want to send it back…
• I still need to pack….
• I found shorts today that don’t show my whole ass AND don’t make me look like I am a mom. WIN!
• I had a phone interview yesterday that turned into a real life interview for when I get back. I have mixed feelings on it, but hey! SOMEBODY at least wants to talk to me – that is progress!!
• Life is so crazy sometimes, I am thankful that currently it is a good kind of crazy.
• My internet/twitter friends are the best ever – I wish we all lived close to each other because how awesome would it be to hang out in the flesh whenever we wanted?!
• Seriously – check out the bootcamp thing – it promises to be awesome.
• And have an amazing weekend. In NEO it’s supposed to FINALLY be a) not raining and b) 90 degrees! Very excited!

I know I’m late, but I am doing a birthday/memorial day post.

Don’t judge, I’ve been busy!

My birthday was fabulous. I rode around a restaurant on a pony. My husband painted our living/dining room – which was a huge surprise! (it’s not all the way finished, once it is I will show it off). My baby girl snuggled me a lot. And I got to spend time with friends and family.

It was unseasonably, and freaking wonderfully warm last weekend. Which was fabulous since we spent all our time here:

Gianna enjoyed her time floating and splashing and sunning her well-sunscreened self.

So did me and my un-sunscreened sisters.

I got the freaking WORST sunburn on my shoulders/back.  I have not had a sunburn in years because we are blessed with Italian heritage and therefore lovely tanning skin. Except when you are pale and then spend 2 days in 90* sunshine without sunscreen. Then, you get a sunburn.

Gianna was shocked at my utter disregard for my skin. Also, she was not feeling bad for me and making sure I learned my lesson by pinching my shoulders every time I picked her up.

You can kinda see my ridiculous tan lines, or rather lobster lines as they should have more accurately been referred.

I am happy to report that I have itched and peeled and now my shoulders are tan. Thank you mother for being Italian.   Now I need to stay in the sun, with sunscreen, to maintain and enhance my tan-ness.

My built-in, forever best friend.  The one person I can talk to about anything. No matter what. Always. Who will always have my back, even when I don’t have my own.

There is nothing like having a twin sister. I can’t explain it. I wish everyone could experience it.

Happy birthday to us, may there be many more quarters (and cookies) to come.

Birthday Month

May is the best month of the year.

Because it’s my birthday month! (and my sister’s, renee, danifred, jj and a few other fun people!)
Also because it’s the beginning of warm weather. Sunshine. Almost summer.

I have been pretty blessed when it comes to birthday months, they have pretty much rocked for my whole life. And, since my birthday is at the end of the month I get to celebrate longer!
This year, my birthday month is even better. Because the big thing I told you about here, is happening. It’s the biggest, best birthday present ever.
Approximately 1400 square feet big.

After what felt like forever, we finally found a house.  I can’t begin to tell you how excited we are about this. 
What I am not excited about, is packing.  I hate packing. A lot. There will be many bitch sessions posts regarding this topic, I am sure.

double trouble

That is what people say to you when you are a twin. I like to think it is more like "double wonderful", you know, since we are both fabulous!

Being a twin is AWESOME! I mean, forever I have had a built in playmate/room mate/competitor/partner in crime but most importantly, best friend.

There is not one day that goes by that we don't talk. 5 times. There isn't a week that goes by that we don't see each other. I don't think either of us would know what to do without the other. It drives our husbands NUTS, but who cares?!

She is a wonderful aunt and godmother to my daughter. A hard worker, a compassionate soul and likely the most generous person you will ever encounter.

I don't know what I would without her and frankly, can't even think about that possibility.

She is my true soul mate.

And, at 11:07a today, she will tell me happy birthday.

At 11:08a, I will tell her the same.

Ok so we are going back a little bit - but hey, it's my birthday!

Friday night I went out with 2 of my very best friends in the whole entire world (and goddaughter) to kick off Rockin' on the River. It was chilly, but fun. [they are letting me pick whatever pampered chef items I want for my birthday present! yay!]

Sunday we had the big party - and I got presents!

Me and my sister, the other birthday girl! We are twins, in case you haven't caught on to that tidbit by now :)

My sister is amazing and she got me a new grill! [our old one was capable to ignite itself and anyone who came near it]

How did I get so lucky? So I may have had to celebrate early, but it didn't make my birthday any less amazing! And I am still loving my camera to pieces - I got to use it a lot last night at mike's lacrosse game and I impressed the shit out of myself! (I will share when i can)



as for the other present i am waiting on.... AF isn't here yet, and you know I had to test this morning - BFN. I don't know what to think, but I will tell you what - I'm glad I had that beer ;)

teaser tuesday

so this weekend we celebrated my (and obviously therefore my sister's! birthday) I can not believe how generous every.single.person in my life was to me this year. But as a preview of my "official birthday post" that you will see tomorrow [this is a teaser afterall]

my wonderful, amazing husband bought me this. beautiful? i think so! i had a lot of fun with it this weekend at the party we had - yes i will be sharing some pictures of that soon.
