Sleep Sleep {Product #Review}

Aleesia is quite a particular baby, and her sleep is really no different.  She likes what she likes, which is fine, once we figure out what it IS that she likes!
But for night sleep, she likes to be swaddled in one way or another – we moved her from a full swaddle to a one arm swaddle most nights but she is quickly out growing her swaddleme blankets.  I found some halo sleep sack/swaddle combos which seem to be great – she likes to have her arm out (she sleeps with it over her head!) but she will be too long for those eventually too (just tonight I realized she has about 2-3” until her feet are at the bottom!)
I was able to receive a Merino Kids sleep sack for Aleesia – this thing IS AWESOME!

It’s organic cotton and so far, it has kept her cool and comfy at night.  I am also pretty sure there is no way she is going to grow out of this thing anytime soon since Gianna can wear it!

But Aleesia snugs up perfectly in this thing:

It washes GREAT (which is a good thing since this one is able to pee through a diaper like a champ!)
There is an added bonus to the sleep sack, aside from ensuring she is warm at night, it keeps her from playing with her feet and staying awake too long! And, obviously, she is still able to hold her lovie and wub!
I don’t know that I would have found this on my own but I am thankful that we did discover it, I know we are going to get a lot of use out of this!
If you are looking for something to help your wee-one sleep at night, stay warm, and not have to worry about them growing out of it too quickly I HIGHLY recommend the Merino Kids Sleep Sack!
In the meantime, we’ll be putting this baby to bed in a sleep sack until she’s 4, obviously.

Protect that Beach Baby {Product #Review}

We are outside all the time – and by default, Aleesia is outside all the time.

I know “they” say you shouldn’t put sunscreen on kids under 6 months old and really, they shouldn’t be outside or in the sun.  But, when big sister wants to play chalk you do what you gotta do – and sunscreen >>>>> sunburn in my book.  Or you know, when you take the baby to the beach – protection of that skin is way important.

I am a really big fan of the entire line of BabyGanics products (I have reviewed them before – I still adore the hand and face wipes!) and when I was asked to review Cover Up Baby Pure Mineral Moisturizing Sunscreen Lotion 30+SPF I was excited!

It was a bonus that I wouldn’t have to worry about Miss A swallowing any gross stuff either when she put her hands and feet in her mouth – which she does all the time.

Over the years I have gotten picky about sunscreen – the Cover Up Baby Pure Mineral Moisturizing Sunscreen Lotion 30+SPF protects against UVA/UVB and retains its waterproof qualities for up to 80 minutes.

It goes on GREAT – it’s thick, but spreads nice and even for great coverage – even when I lather her little head up, it doesn’t get all clumped up in her hair. (but it does provide fabulous spikey baby hair!).  This stuff was perfect for the beach – big kid and baby alike!

BabyGanics products are reasonably priced (this 4oz tube is about $10.99) and easy to find at Babies R Us (babiesrus.com) and Diapers.com

If you are still searching for a great sunscreen to protect your favorite precious little person’s skin when you need to be outside – I highly recommend BabyGanics’ Cover up Baby Pur Mineral Moisturizing Sunscreen Lotion!

a letter to my {second} daughter: your first unbirthday

Miss Aleesia -

I have no idea how in the world your first 6 months have flown by so quickly.  It seems impossible, really that just 6 months ago I had one of the most empowering, beautiful experiences of my life bringing you into the world.

2.2  (77)

And you have been making your mark on our family ever since.   And I am happy to say that even though it has only been 6 months, you fit in like there was never life without you.  It’s magical really, how someone so new and so small can have such a huge impact on the word family and the amount of love a heart can hold.

A really good friend told me never to worry if I would have enough love for both Gianna and you – because your heart just grows to fit the new love in.  She was right.

You are a snuggler with this perfect way you fit right into my shoulder and, more commonly, the crook of my left elbow.  I enjoy just sitting with you, enjoying your sweetness all to myself, even if it is only for a few minutes.  It’s probably the only thing I miss about breastfeeding – but we still get our quiet time in.

We know it’s been a rocky six month start to life – tongue ties, reflux, problems with milk proteins, low/slow weight gain, hospital stays, kidney reflux, daily medicine, so much spit up, breastfeeding problems, colic, nap-cotting, so many tears.  We are still using alimentum, you eat anywhere from 4-6 ounces 4-5x a day and literally, every single day when I get home, you spit up on me.  I like to think it’s because you are so relaxed around me…

But there is a lot more smiling, giggling, cooing, baby talking, playing and more happiness these days.  The best thing is your recognition – when Gianna walks into the room, your face lights up and I am pretty sure your eyes don’t leave her.  When I get home from work? I get the BIGGEST smile from you and so much excitement until I am able to pick you up and get a snuggle in.  And, every time I kiss your cheek, you giggle.  Which I think is so awesome!

You love your toes the most

But also your wubanub, your lovie third and anything that makes a crinkle noise. Aleesia – you are a drool machine at the moment and you LOVE to keep your hands, shirt, my necklace, whatever you can find really in  your mouth.  You roll all over the place and are trying to sit on your own – but usually your toes distract you!  Bath time is your favorite time and you love the pool.

We have tried rice and bananas with no success. We tried peaches this week and you seemed to like them enough to take more than one bite, so that’s progress!

You aren’t a huge nap fan, but you love to be snuggled in for bed.  We either do a one arm swaddle or use a sleep sack – either way, you are comfy and that is all that matters.  And! You just started waking up so happy – it’s fun to come in to your big gummy smile first thing in the morning.

Time flies constantly but I try to soak up the little moments.  The quiet moments.  The snuggles.  The smiles.  You are our peanut with the smile that lights up the room.

Happy six month unbirthday, peanut!
