It seems appropriate that so many first have been going on here lately, given the entire post I wrote about first year firsts just the other day. (there is a giveaway there, go enter!)
I am not sure I could have used the word first any more in that sentence.
Moving on!
I think I forgot to mention that our first born got her ears pierced, after much begging, with her bestie the other day! I am glad I waited until this was her idea (she has been BEGGING for weeks!)because she reminds me that her ears need cleaned every day, which I know I would forget if I had to remember on my own. And she has “kitty hello” earrings, such a cool chick!
I ran my first turkey trot (in super freezing cold weather!) on thanksgiving. It really wasn’t that bad at all, and I am pretty sure the cold motivated me to run faster than normal - I’m not fast at all, so I’ll take any extra seconds off my time I can get!
Aleesia enjoyed her first thanksgiving.
<—this is what happens when I try to take their picture!
Gianna wrote out table cards for everyone and decided where each person should sit, she is becoming such a young lady these days!
Our weekend continued with me taking Gianna to the movies for the first time. We saw Frozen which is ADORABLE!
Aleesia had been stuffy (again again again, she’s always stuffy!) and generally crabby so we took her to the doctor, first ear infection.
Followed up on Sunday with her first stomach virus. (honestly. I had no idea a 10 month old could vomit so much at one time.)
It was a super fun end to the holiday weekend up in here! (but overall, we did have a fun weekend)
I also got a little surprise in my inbox today:
Looks like I’ll be adding “first half marathon” to my list of 2014 firsts. No backing out or slacking on training now! I honestly did not think I would be selected (no one else I know who registered was selected) so I am a little shocked, nervous, mostly excited though. It’s something I’ve wanted to accomplish for a long time and no time like the present, right?
I was searching for my GF's blog and came across yours. Started reading about the great story about your older daughter getting her ears pierced. Your story reminded of a funny experience when we had our 5 year old ears
ReplyDeletepierced and I didn't have her sibling ears pierced on the same day.
After piercing our ODD's ears for her birthday with my sister, we came home and showed daddy. He really loved them. What happened next surprised me. Dh asked why I hadn't had her sister, a 9 mo old girl ears pierced! I didn't know what to say, but then our 5 yr chimed in saying she wanted her sissy to have matching earrings like hers (CZ studs). I told hubby maybe her younger sib was too young? Wrong. Now my family was ganging up on me!
Everyone wanted BOTH my girls to have pierced ears since they were so close and shared everything!
The next day, dh calls out to me from the family room asking me to come in there. Our 5 yr had gotten a pair of my earrings and was trying to put them in her younger sister's ears! She almost put one in her ear canal! Dh laughed and told me, I told you that you should have pierced all the girls ears. Please take her sister to have them pierced before we had to take her to the ER or to remove an earring!
I went the next day and had Missy's ears pierced and her sissy held her while I took pictures. She barely shed a tear and sissy was so excited. Don't know if you've considered having your YDD's ears pierced.
Admittedly, I don't know why I didn't do all the girls that same day, however, looking back it actually was a good idea and it
wasn't even mine :) I was the only one who needed convincing.
Don't know if you remotely thought of having your YDD's ears pierced. However, if so, then maybe your mommy intuition is telling you now is good time. Promise the girls would both look adorable in their holiday pictures
with cute earrings :)!

I love Aleesia's Thanksgiving dress! I've been wondering when is the right time to get C's ears pierced (she's 11 months now). I got mine pierced at age 6, so I'm not one of those people who thinks you have to wait until you're 12. But my husband would like to do it at around a year, and I'm not sure how I feel about that.
ReplyDeleteAnd wow, good for you with the half-marathon! I've been running very little latey, and I miss it.
